The Reception Site
Once you have decided on how many guests you will be
inviting you should start to look for a reception site.
There are many sources available for you to check. A good
suggestion would be to look in Bridal magazines and
planners. Newspapers and the telephone are also available.
You can look in the telephone book for banquet centers,
catering halls, restaurants, or hotels with catering
facilities. Other options you may want to consider are
historical sites, parks, charter boats, or museums. If the
wedding you are planning is small you may want to hold the
reception at a close family friend or relative's house.
Be sure to ask what the capacity of various halls are when
you begin to start looking and check if there will be
enough room for the number of guests you plan to have
attending. You should also be sure that there would be
enough room to include extras such as a gift, bridal, or
cake table. Check to make sure you will be able to
comfortably fit your head table, musicians and/or a DJ.
You need to also determine whether or not there is a dance
floor that will be able to accommodate your guest's needs.
If the site you have decided upon does not include a dance
floor you can rent one at a local party supply store.
If the caterer you have chosen is from a different company
be sure to write down all the information about the
kitchen and the electrical facilities. Be sure to find out
if the hall will provide linens, place settings, and
glassware. This is important so that you know whether or
not to include them in your catering package.
It is important to include information regarding the time
and date of your wedding, your seating plan, and any
decorations provided by the hall. You should agree on a
time when the hall will be available for other services to
come in and set up.
It is important to determine who is responsible for the
clean up of the hall after the wedding is over. Finally,
it is always important to include details on the parking
and coat facilities for your guests. These costs may be
taken care of before hand. Always keep in mind that some
of the parking spots may not be available to the hall.
Also check to see if smoking is allowed in the hall and if
not what designated areas are available for those guests
who do smoke. |
