Music Selection
Music plays a very important role throughout the event of
your wedding. All the stages of your wedding day will
contain some sort of music that will help to enhance the
perfect atmosphere. In order to find the type of
instrumentals that you want contact your local musician's
guild or get the help of a music consultant.
Many churches will offer their own musicians as options
for your ceremony. These usually include an
organist/pianist and perhaps a vocalist. You should
explore other options before booking these musicians.
Remember that there is a lot of variety available for
weddings. Church musician fees are not usually included in
the booking fee. Outdoor and home weddings sometimes have
special requirements for music. It is important for the
musicians to know how much open space will need to be
filled. Also if the yard contains any trees or buildings
that could possibly act as a barrier. Check with the
superintendent for amplification facilities.
Many DJ's will come in and set up early so that they will
be able to provide you with classical music during your
dinner. If you wish to include this in your package
specify before signing a contract. Live instrumentations
such as a pianist, accordion or perhaps a trio will help
add to your overall dinner.
A band or a DJ will help to get the theme of celebration
in the air. They will provide the kind of music that you
will want to hear at your dance or social. Make sure you
list specific pieces you want to hear starting with your
first song. You should also consider what others might
like to hear such as jazz, 60's music, or perhaps your
parent's first song that they danced to. Your DJ will need
to know in advance the type of crowd that they will be
dealing with so they will be able to prepare the
appropriate music. Your guests and you will listen to the
music of your choice for the duration of the wedding. In
the end it is worth paying a few extra dollars for a DJ or
band that is experienced and contains quality equipment
and professional musicians.
