Liquor Tips
Many reception halls will supply you with their own liquor
license, however it is possible for you to get your own.
You will need to decide on the time the bar will be
opening, whether to include the liquor cost in the per
person rate or you can chose to pay for as much is
consumed the night of the wedding separately. There is a
possibility that you will be restricted to the number of
hours the bar is allowed to be operating; so you may want
to have it closed during dinner. You can have wine
available for drinks until later. Also instead of having
the bar open during the cocktail hour, you may want to
simply serve an alcoholic or non alcoholic beverage.
If the caterer that you have decided upon does not have a
liquor license, you will need to get one from the L.C.B.O.
Be sure that you do not open liquor and beer cases because
they can be returned if left unopened. There are some
wineries that may be willing to come to your hall and take
care of liquor purchasing and serving for you.
Another alternative that you have is to brew your own beer
and make your own wine. A liquor permit will still be
needed if you decide upon serving homemade wine with your
dinner. Check to see if your caterer will still charge you
to serve homemade wine with dinner. Remember that it is
very easy to make wine and beer and the results are
guaranteed. If you decide to make your own, the U-brew
will have all the ingredients, instructions, and equipment
that you will require. It takes less then an hour to make
the beer and wine and even less time to bottle the finish
product. You may choose to keep the beer in a keg with a
dispenser, instead if having it all in bottles.
It will take about a month to complete the whole process,
so it is important that you don't leave the work until the
last minute.
You can take the time to personalize wine bottles for what
is consumed at the wedding or perhaps as party favours for
your guests. It is important to make your guests aware if
you are going to have a cash bar so that they will bring
money with them.
